Boring Interview with Lord Snooty

Your Forum name: Lord Snooty

Real name: What - you doubt me? (It's Tim)

Age: 36

Occupation: Agent for timber worldwide

Lives: Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire, England

Marital Status: Married to Claire, with 2 children

Which cars do you drive and why?

1986 Spider S3 Quadrifoglio (Because I want to), Volvo S80 (Because I have to), and VW Golf (If my wife's not driving it)

Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo?

My passion just keeps on growing!

What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo and…
….do you think it’s fundamental to own one to have the passion?

My passion started in the 1980’s, when I first saw a Spider S3 on the motorway (I would have been early teens). It truly was “love at first sight” – and always said that one day – I would have one ("Oh yes…she will be mine"). Whadya know…just 20 years later – bought mine in August this year!

I don’t think it’s fundamental to own an Alfa to have “the passion” – after all, I went a long time without one. However, I will say that, now being an owner, my passion has heightened – why else would I sit in my garage, just staring at my car?

Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one?

I joined the Alfa Romeo Owner’s Club the day I got my car.

What do you like most about Alfas?

The Style: many of them are achingly beautiful cars. The Heritage: I truly own a piece of automotive history.

What do you like least about Alfas?

I’m not looking forward to some of the inevitable bills that will occur – but that’s just classic car ownership, I guess! Other than that – I can’t think of anything at all. (Ask me again in a couple of years!)

What would be your dream cars?

Whilst saving up to buy my Spider, I always said it was fantastic that my dream car was affordable!

If I HAD to go completely mad and spend hundreds of thousands – It might be a Lamborghini Muira.

What car would you least like to drive?

I’d have a test drive in anything! But for ownership - there are really not many cars currently around that I particularly like, as I prefer older ones. I would avoid any BMWs, Fords, Citroens, Peugeots, most Japanese types, anything environmental, anything pink, anything brown, anything green – I could go on, and normally do…

For you, what’s the most popular thread on AO?

I like the wacky ones, that have nothing to do with anything! Like “favourite vegetable” or something like that – I have a cr@p sense of humour, and don’t take life too seriously. (by the way: Favourite vegetable: Stephen Hawking. Oh come on, it’s just a joke!)

What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)?

Destination: Italian lakes. Passenger: Without a doubt: my wife. Music: An endless supply of tracks from Mozart to Motorhead on my ipod.

Any humorous Alfa or car-related stories you wish to share with us?

My examiner farted during my driving test. It put me right off, but he was so embarrassed – he passed me.

What interests do you have outside of Alfas?

I also love music and tennis, and I am a member of Round Table. I like being in the country, in the open air, with wide open spaces – don’t like cities.

Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc)

My dubious claim to fame is that when I was 16, I and my family were booked to return from holiday on the Herald of Free Enterprise on 6th March 1987. We changed our plans during the holiday to stay longer.

Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?

No, sorry – unless you count getting ****ed on red wine.

What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people?

It’s a very professional, efficient site. I haven’t explored it to a great extent yet, but there is a general feeling of welcome and good humour about it all.

If you had £50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it?

I would probably either put it towards ending world poverty, or invest it in a high interest account. Either that, or I’d blow it all on a rather good party.
