which cars do you drive and why?
’77 Alfa Spider 2000
Mazda 6 TS2

Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo?
Absolutely. This spider is my second. Have also had brief affairs with Fiat Spiders, MGB’s, and other rusting hulks

What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo and…
….do you think it’s fundamental to own one to have the passion?

Saw a ’78 Spider on a Buick car lot in KC, MO (USA) in dead of winter, felt sorry for it, bought it on the tick (horrendous interest rate !), and spent the next 5 year trying to tune the $%^&* SPICA fuel injection system !!
Owning an Alfa is the only way to truly develop the passion – all the grease under the fingernails and empty wallet are more than compensated for by the grins-per-mile as you blat down a country lane.

Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one?
Member – Alfa Romeo Owners Club GB

What do you like most about Alfas?
I respect the engineering that went into the cars – If you have owned an MG, then gone to an Alfa of same year, it is amazing how much more sophisticated the Alfa is – the MG is a coal cart by comparison. Then again, the styling is drop dead gorgeous, and the sounds they make…nothing else like them. They truly get under your skin. Also, there is amazing availability of spares, which makes them easy to maintain.

What do you like least about Alfas?
Tin worm seems to be very fond of these cars…it is a constant battle to keep them at bay.

What would be your dream cars?
Lamborghini Miura, Toyota 2000GT, Lamborghini Islero, Ford GT40 …(I’m gonna need a bigger garage…)

What car would you least like to drive?
Recently drove a Chrysler PT Cruiser…complete rubbish.
Anything French

For you, what’s the most popular thread on AO?
Tech Forum is most useful / most often visited; enjoy Rant Room and General Discussion when I need a laugh

What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)?

Along the Italian coast near Portofino..wife aboard…Level 42 blasting (sad or what ?)…But I would settle for a nice drive in Wales, too !

Any humorous Alfa or car-related stories you wish to share with us?
My MGB caught fire under bonnet once just as it emerged from garage – left me stuck in garage door aperture, unable to get doors open, unable to move car…real panic ! (sold it after that…)

What interests do you have outside of Alfas?
Classic wood boats (hence the name); WWII aviation (mad collector of Robert Taylor artwork), anything automotive

Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc)
I once appeared in Best magazine – Valentines day issue, early 90’s – telling the story of how my wife and I met (through our respective parents, who were friends during WWII…a long story)

Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?
I do a passing imitation of Sean Connery ( ‘ain’t it just like a wop…brings a knife to a gunfight…’ )

What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people?
Lord Snooty always makes me laugh – Tankman, Hammy, Zulu Ferret, et al…lots of great folk on this BB, and many have given me valuable advice in sorting out issues on the Spider.

If you had £50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it?
Assuming I am alive after the 72 hrs elapse, I’d buy that wood speedboat I’ve always wanted, and divide the rest between my most needy mates..

Am trying...have not heard back from the organizers, as I was seeking a permit to park up with the rest of the vehicles, but as yet, no reply - Hammy has chimed in with some suggestions on this. If all else fails, I will show up but not park up !

Normally books up early. I couldn't get a permit last year, so had to park up elsewhere, only to find out they had a few no-shows.
