156 Oil Change

Hi,

I'm considering doing an oil change on my 156 and was wondering if anybody local had managed to do this themselves? I'm a novice when it comes to home servicing and would appreciate the help.

Ive read some nightmare stories about the sump plug thread breaking and it needing to be re-tapped.

The plug at the moment looks really oily but there is no dripping.

To be honest i haven't had the oil changed in 30k miles, which im quite embarassed about, , there always been something else on the go and I've been topping the oil up regularly.

Your help is much appreciated

Steve

Safety first mate

It's not a bad job if you are already geared up for it, but if you have to start buying tools for a one off job, the cost will probably be prohibitive...

axle stands for an oil change on a 156

Hi there, just wondering why the need for axle stands to perform an oil change... should the oil not be drained with the car flat on the road?

To be fair i dont use axle stands to do mine but the idea is that once the car is jacked up so you can gain access to the sump plug/oil filter then the car should be on stands for safety, I tend to jack mine up....take the plug out and filter off then drop the car back on all four wheels but if i wasn't so lazy id put it on 4 axle stands and keep it on them till the job is done.
