New pub venture!

Ok well its 99.9% official now so no harm in mentioning it. We (as in my family) have taken on a lease to a Pub just outside of Wisbech. The plan was originally to buy our own pub however finding one within our budget in good order prooved too difficult! So the plan now is to lease this pub for a year or 2 and see how we go with it, that way we will know if its worth taking the plunge with our own pub!

Now Jill is currently planning her 2nd run which is somehow going to include the pub either at the beginning or end (not sure myself) but naturally id like to see the Lincs mob make a venture out that way if possible. I know its a bit far south for some of you but would apreciate the support and you know there would be a good welcome

We have a move in date of 20th June 2011 but should hopefully be in before then due to the mess the current managers have managed to make of the place! The only thing i ask (Nige) Is that if you lot do plan to come, make sure im home for it!

Yes, best of luck with the new business, I was in the licensed trade for 20 years and know how much hard graft is involved

My last pub was called The Woodman Inn, sadly it is now a Tescos

Good luck but be careful of your kids, I know from experience how they can be neglected because of the demands of running a 'successful' pub.

We are under no illusion that this isnt going to be easy, My Girlfriend and Mum have both worked/grown up in pubs so know exactly what they are doing...I wont be around much as I live in Germany so i guess that means when i used to come home for leave ill now be pulling pints

Really looking forward to it though! If ever you come down for a visit and im not there then just make yourself known to whoever is there as they are all aware im posting on here and im sure you will get a very warm welcome

I think we can manage this............

Although may arrange a visit when you are not there just to be awkward !

Final meeting this wednesday, this time with the bank manager to get things rolling...if this goes as planned then we are all systems go and will be in by 20th June.

Had a lot of interest from other car forums ive been posting on from the local area with many of them saying they are glad the pub is going to be under new ownership as it used to be such a nice place and the current managers dont seem to give a damn! Looking forward to this and dont worry.....Alfa owners will get priority over the other marques

Nope, will be doing a full menu, Not 100% sure what it will be as thats My mums side of things but there is a seperate restaurant. Also will cater as per what you lot want....If you want the normal menu then thats fine but if your after something more simple then we can do that to keep your costs down
