Re: New girl on the scrounge ;-)
I know, only been in my beast for just over a week and i saw a fellow alfa coming towards me, i leant forward in my seat and considering waving, bottled it and then the alfa driver waved at me, but it was too late for me to wave back. Gutted!! Apologies if that was any one on here!! Will be ready next time!!

Keep an eye out for a red 146 with body coloured bumpers. I've never seen another one round here so it will be me if you see one

Re: New girl on the scrounge ;-)
Will do, but i have to admit, i haven't noticed it around either. There are a few around my work place, red 147 gta, a black 156 (but only a 1.8!) and a gtv. so thats four alfas in one car park. Think thats a record!! Are there any meets down here that you know of? Could do with some moral support as get ripped to pieces by mates who love to talk about my cloverleaf days or lack of..!

Just ignore them as they are only jealous. I get ribbed all the time for driving a FIAT. There are meets for the South West in the regional threads but most seem to be up bristol and bath way

Re: New girl on the scrounge ;-)
Hi Gem. Hope you've found yourself a spoiler by now? Must admit the 156 does look 'meaner' with the high wing on. Whatever you do, keep waving.......it'll eventually bear fruit if you do it enough!
Hope you enjoy yourself on here and pick up all the info you need.

Re: New girl on the scrounge ;-)
Help!! having slight issue with my temperature gauge. was driving yesterday and it went up then down then up. Not properly over heating, just varying between bout 60 and 90. That normal behaviour or just an alfa quirk? Or may be its the cold weather. Should i start panicking yet?!!

Re: New girl on the scrounge ;-)
I don't think that's anything to worry about, it's just the thermostat opening and closing to keep the temp within bounds. When the engine is a little less than the ideal running temp, the thermostat closes to keep the coolant within the engine. Then when it heats up, it opens to allow the coolant to cool by passing round the whole circuit, including the radiator.
Factors like outside temperature, how hard you are working the engine and whether you are stationary, will all influence the heat in the engine. The thermostat regulates this.
Obviously when you start the car from cold, the thermostat is closed until the temp reaches about 95deg, then you will see it suddenly fall down to about 60deg as the thermostat opens and all the cold coolant from the radiator enters the engine. Then the engine gradually heats up and stabilises. As I say though, depending on driving conditions, it may open and close again, causing sudden but necessary fluctuations.

Campagnolo and carbon fibre

Re: New girl on the scrounge ;-)
Awesome thanks, VO2MAX. You've put my mind at ease. have a very bad habit of blowing head gaskets so tend to drive with one eye on the road and the other on the temperature. And i've only had this beast for a fortnight now so still paranoid. Just put my clear indicators on it. Looks fantastic. Was there a way to get he old ones off with out snapping the clips cos i knackered both of mine. Bit late now if there was!!

Re: New girl on the scrounge ;-)
No probs. You may know already, but always check your oil and water weekly, tyres too . Alfas have a propensity to use oil and if you run low, you'll kill her!
