Sorry for the delay in proceedings! Still no joy, and using a Micra to get to work
I have bought a new genuine MAF, Alfadiag lead, and the Full Alfadiag. (I lost a week by buying the serial version of the lead, only to find my laptop had no socket! Had to swap it for a USB version). Xmas post s slow indeed.
The new MAF made no difference at all, and the car had lost the ability to rev so much that it now won't even start and idle. So tonight, with the lead arrived in the post and the full Alfadiag purchased, I wandered out into the cold and dark to try again.
1) The laptop and ECU talk to eachother (after manually typing "COM7" into the interface set up). Yeah!
2) Testing all the actuators makes the fuel pump whir into life, and the fans ect too. Yeah!
3) 4 Fault codes stored in ECU: a) MAF failure (when I unplugged it), b) Throttle pedal failure (when I unplugged it), c) Throttle body failure (when I unplugged it), and d) Immobilser fault (where I put the key in the ignition without resetting the alarm - easy to forget when the battery is on and off so much for charging).
The battery is dead now and on charge as we speak, so I didn't get to run Alfadiag with the car turning over - thats for later.
Quick questions - when I test the injectors or coils with Alfadiag, is there any clue (a tiny noise or something) that each is working? Or do I have to remove them and squirt fuel in my face while electrocuting myself?
I'll give the battery 3 hours on fast charge and wander out into the cold to try again with the starter churning over....
