Cam belt change
I own a 2003 2.0 156, which I am generally pleased with. However, I am becoming a little frustrated with our local dealer on the need for a cam belt change. The car is low mileage and yet at the service in 2006 when the car had done less that 20,000 miles they were recommending a cam belt change. We resisted. This year they said Alfa had indicated that a cambelt change was now advisory at 36,000 miles or three years instead of 72,000. Our car has only done 25,000 and I am reluctant to spend a lot of money unless I have to. My wife is reluctant to drive the car long distances because the dealer has worried her over the implications if the cam belt fails. I have tried other garages, but they will not touch Alfa cam belt work! Am I being conned?
