Bought my first car last March a 159, always had company cars before then. I was thinking of a Skoda vRS TDI, but the performance was too rushed, noisy and the ride too hard, the inside was dour. I was coming out of an Xtype estate.
The 159 was just right. Comfy, sporty, well equiped and looks £30k not £19 like I paid for a 6 month old. I havent seen another SW in my colour yet. I havent seen a black SW either.
My dad had alfasuds and my brother-in-law had a 156, now a GT.
Dont know what quality was like before this but the B pillar trim below the seat belt is loose, the radiator grille chrome plastic vanes have both blown off, and there is a plastic part I cannot identify that appeared in the rear footwell one day. The front badge is peeling and the black paint below the headlights is crazed. I cannot turn on the boot lights. The dash light glows bright and dull at times and it does only 36mpg. The alarm goes off every so often for no reason, and twice the engine has run unbeliveably lumpy at start up I thought it had broken only to run fine after a few seconds with no ill effects.
The dealer gave me a Brera handbook and two scratches in the rear bumber at collection.
This ought to drive you nuts.
Its still easily the best thing I could have had. I would only change it for another one and I hope the dealers will be kind in two years time.
Its nice to hear what others think on the forum.
