New Alfa Romeo convert
Hi everybody. My name is Chris and I live near Portsmouth, recently semi retired and a new Alfa convert.
For the last 25 years I have been driving various mid range executive cars, (Audi, BMW, Volvo, Mercedes, Saab etc.) as my business demanded high annual mileage. They were all highly competent cars that mostly did their job very well but never really grabbed me. However, a few months ago my wife's car needed replacing and she fell in love with a 147 which a friend of ours was selling. Since she bought it I use any excuse possible to drive it and thought about getting an Alfa for myself as I don't do high mileage anymore and have a bit of time on my hands look after a car.
So took the plunge and bought an 05 plate 156 2.0l JTS Veloce with only 50,000 on the clock for about the same money that I have spent on servicing some of my previous cars in the past. What a car, I haven't enjoyed a car this much for years and have certainly never felt the need to look back at the car while walking away from it.
Just a final footnote, I decided to have the cam belt etc done straight away and found Sussex Alfa Romeo near Brighton to perform the operation & can't recommend them enough. Interestingly, they loaned me a 159 for the day but I felt that this model was a bit too grown up and felt like some of my previous business cars, didn't really feel like an Alfa. Glad I bought the 156.
