Hi, i am new to this site and need some sound advice! I own a 1997 alfa spider 2l t spark with 84,000 now on the clock. I had the cambelt changed at 44,000 miles. Would you advise i have it changed again, or let it run a while? Also, once the car is warm and i shut it down and then re-start it within a few minutes, the car idle "hunts" for a few seconds and then settles back down. Any one got any ideas what is causing this? I have checked all the air hoses/pipes and i can't see any splits or tears or anything obvious. Sometimes when i start the car it sound like the starter motor is running on or not disengaging. It is a kind of whurring sound that lasts a couple of seconds, but it does not do it all the time? Any thoughts? Finally, i think i may need the variator replacing. Basically it does sound like a diesel sometimes on start up, but not all the time. Also it sounds a bit "tappety" at low revs but goes away at higher revs. Is that linked to the variator? Please help!!
Thanks guys.
