Alfa GTV 916 Window Problem

I'm new to the forum but have been reading stuff for quite a while and it's been really useful, so thanks to everyone for that. Having owned my GTV since 2004 I am now starting to really appreciate this site, big time!!

I know there have been several posts about window problems but I'd like to confirm something if anyone knows.

My driver's side window does not react at all to the window switch, passenger window is fine. I've checked switches and fuses, all o.k.

I believe the cable to the motor is white/green and purple/yellow. It is connected via red insulated plugs before what I presume is the main connector to the motor. I'm not sure but the plugs may have been added by a local garage a few years ago when I had an issue with the same window which failed in the down position and they said they had to replace some of the wiring.

Does anyone know what voltages I should be seeing on that cable, nominally and when the window switch is operated? I can always check and compare with the door that works I guess but I'd rather not have to do that. From what I saw, the voltages didn't change from about 8V ? I will check again.

Many Thanks.

Thanks for the welcomes. Apologies for posting tech stuff in the introduction bit. I was too depressed about my car to pay attention to the rules! All fixed now, until next week I expect . Will introduce myself properly in a bit.

I'm a southerner born and bread but married a Manchester lass so I knew I'd eventually be up north! Moved to North Wales in 2007, fantastic place to be, except there seems to be only one specialist that knows about Alfas (Allitalia, Wrexham...great guys!) So I try to do the easy stuff myself. I have a reasonable knowledge of the workings of cars having owned about 17 cars over the years starting with a Morris Marina. That was easy, there was hardly anything inside the bonnet! Then I went to an Audi Coupe and completely stripped the engine and replaced the clutch. A real education, got it going really nice and it taught me everything I know....but never again! Went through all the usual German stuff, ended up with a Mercedes 2.2L C130 but the BMW 325 was probably the best to drive for me. Just got bored with German and tried Alfa, love the thing to death.......maybe I shouldn't have said that

Had my GTV 3.0 V6 phase II (2002) for 12 years now, had it since 2004 at 20K, only up to 50K even now and the engine is still fantastic. I fear bits are starting to go wrong here and there just due to the age....hence joining the forum for advice. Cheers.
