Calling all Troubleshooters.....!
Just bought a '99 156 1.8 TS. It ran like a dream for the first 3 or 400 miles but then started to run a bit ropey, drop revs, tick over badly and occasionally cut out. Strange thing is it only misbehaves when the engines is warm AND I have switched the engine off and then restarted it!
I have had it diagnosed with a snap-on scanner, which flagged up a warning of P0170 mixture control. Been informed that this could mean I need to replace any of the following; air flow meter, lambda sensor, coil pack, injectors, spark plugs, coolant temp sensor, fuel filter.... Seeing as these all cost a fair few quid I would obviously like to try and whittle the list down a bit. So far I have checked all of the spark plugs (they cost 99 quid for a set) and replaced a HT lead - No improvement.
If anyone could help I would much appreciate it.
One last bit of info - I ran it quite low on fuel a couple of days before it developed the problem, but I'm led to believe that this is coincidental.
Please help. "it's doin me ed in"
