Hello from a new member
Where to start? History I suppose. My wife owned an Alfa 75 for around 16 years, trading it 18 months ago on a Mini Cooper. The Alfa had been a great vehicle with a highly reliable 2.5 V6 engine, and 16 years of faultless and smooth running auto transmission. The electrics and the brakes were another story.
It was old, and it was begining to fail. It lacked any of the modern safety features.
So we got a 156 Selespeed to replace it, but firstly my wife soon came to hate the Selespeed, it rolled back on hills, and it was not a smooth transition between gears. Secondly the transmission failed shortly after getting the vehicle (it was 3 years old). So in disgust she sent it back and bought the Mini Cooper instead.
Time came again to look at options, and after many months of research and test drives with lots of disapointments along the way, it was the 159 1.9 JTDm Auto that stood out. (Looked at Mini Cooper S, BMW, Saab, MX5 (the worst), Mercedes 180 Sports Coupe (2nd best but it looks like a Ford Focus from the back), and Audi)
It was gorgeous. It handled beautifully. It was good value compared to the opposition. And it was Alfa. So we purchased it.
Alas, my wife has an eye to style, and noted a 159 V6 with body kit over to one side, and decided she like the look. So our new 159 has just had a Spoiler and side skirts added. And not being the tallest person in the world she took exception to the long front seats that pressed annoyingly into the backs of her calfs. So at this time, the 159 is around at a local Auto trimmer having the seats shortened. On Monday we pick it up.
She is so happy about this vehicle and it's looks. And happy to be returning to the Alfisti ranks.
Me, I drive a red Hilux.
