Hi everyone,

My name is Marc and I'm considering buying either a Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo or an Alfa GTV V6 as my next car. I've had a varied array of motors in the past, 205 GTI's (1.9 & 1.6), Ford Capri's, BMW 540i etc.
Currently got a 205 GTI with an Mi16 lump in it (absolutely flies!) and a 1987 BMW E28 with full M5 running gear (also flies!). The E28 will probably be making way for the new car, which is a bit gutting but thats life.

Anyone got any experience of the Alfa vs the Fiat? I'm swayed towards the Alfa as its just that bit more exclusive, but the Fiat's are so much bang for the money!

Will have a nose around the forum and try and pick up some tips on buying. By the way, I'm half Italian and yet have never owned an Italian car in 10 years of driving!

Re: Hey!

Welcome, go for the Alfa GTV 3.0 220 BHP, V6 sounds fantastic .
Fiat Coupe 226 bhp sounds good , but not as good as the GTV.
Biased ? moi ? never .
Both great cars you wouldnt regret buying either .

Hi Marc, see you are also on the BMW5 forum, shame to see your e28 is up for sale, looks a rather handy beast.

Re: Hey!

Hi Marc, do post a link to the sale page for the M5, there'd be people on here interested (including me )

Its such a hard choice, I'd say the coupe is more practical, and if you are into modifications is the one to go for. But the interior just doesn't come anywhere near the level of quality in the GTV.. If the Pug is for racing and this is for cruising, get the GTV, but if you want another race car then get the 20VT Coupe.

Thanks for the welcome people.

I'm swaying towards the GTV as I'm after more of a cruiser than another B road blaster. Plus the interior just looks gorgeous, especially in red or tan leather!

Re: Hey!

Less worries with a GTV. The fiats generally can cause more problems so I've been told. I'd go for a GTV though I prefer the style.

Re: Hey!

For me, there's no contest:

The Fiat achieves its BHP by turboing the t*ts off it, whereas the GTV does it by sheer grunt - much more civilised in my books.

As for styling, the Fiat is starting to look a bit 80s, whilst the GTV looks like its going to make the jump from 'modern' to 'classic' without the usual unfashionable wilderness years that most cars go through.

And yes, the Red Momo leather is sumptuous...
