Crazed running very hot

hi there everybody, i recently bought a suped-up 146ti the owner before last spent thousands on lowering suspension chipping cpu bodykits racing brakes exhorst ect. however the engine runs at about 95 degrees which worries me slightly. is this normal. i tend to be ok if i stay below 80mph but if i go any faster the temp creeps up to 105 when i slow down again it slowly drops. at this rate my fan moter will burn out in no time atall

Re: running very hot

Hello and welcome Damian. As Nomad said put a question the 146 tech forum and you will get lots of help. But briefly your temp problem could be down to several things. Most likely are failed thermostat or blocked radiator, but I see you mention a body kit, make sure its not spoiling the air flow through the rad.

Re: running very hot

Hello Damian, welcome etc.

I've been chasing a similar problem round my Rover.
I changed the water pump (cambelt was due) - no change.
I changed the thermostat which has made things a little better.
I will replace the cap (should've done this to start with really- particularly if losing coolant) yours will be on the white header tank.
I think mine really needs a new radiator (they last 90 - 100k miles).

Other possible but unlikely causes are:
Plug gaps too wide. (careful with the TS plugs- they break.)
Head gasket blown, (possible if you are losing coolant)
Fuel mix lean, (unlikely)
Ignition timing wrong. (very unlikely)

In hindsight I should've inspected the radiator before doing anything.
