Hi from Edmonton

I acquired a 1985 Alfa Romeo Spider on August 12, 2015. Got it appraised today.

It appears to be an Alfa originally for the European market.

-2 Side Draft Solex Carbs
-Bolt holes for license plate don't line up with North American Plates
-Small signal lights on fenders very near the doors
-Cassette/Radio has weird FM band. eg. 76.1 MHZ

Perhaps it was brought back by a Serviceman that was stationed in Europe?

Anyway, I like the Solex Carbs instead of 30+ year old FI Technology !

Further investigation points to my Alfa Spider as being from Japan. The FM band goes from 76 to 90 MHZ, whereas North America and Europe is 88 to 108 MHZ. In Japan, one can import a new car from an agent if there is no existing dealership network in Japan for that make of car.

I don't mind this ! Cars in Japan have to go through the a Vigorous Inspection to stay on the road. As the cars get 'older' , the license fees increase prohibitively and the cars are sold and exported. Keeps their economy going.
