Re: Buying an 147
What do you want to know?
There are two main engine types JTD (8v) and JTDmultijet (16v)
The JTDm is 1.9 and comes in 120bhp and 150bhp. The 150 bhp goes like stink. Fuel economy is good 41-45 mpg combined. I have got 563 miles out of a tank before losing courage and filling up.
I think you can still get the JTDm as a Turismo (basic, but well-equipped trim level) though as the JTDm is the top engine, most people want the top trim level (Lusso). Beware the special editions of 147 e.g. Sport or Collezione that only offer JTDm as 120 bhp if you are expecting the 150 bhp.
Alfa diesels are not clattery once warmed up. I was dubious about driving a diesel Alfa but it is rewarding and I am a convert. I would still consider a petrol model although they are more expensive to run.
Hope this helps.
