Hi, I discovered this site last night even though I have been driving Alfas for many years, usually second hand cars, the last one was a superb Cloverleaf, 2 ltr / 150 bhp in a little 145 hatchback, swift and reliable - But as I am getting on a bit now i decided to get myself a new car. I just could not resist the design and spec. of the Brera, I had to wait over a year for delivery, they weren't exactly flying off the line.
I love the car, a 2.4 jtd but inevitably (some say I should expect it with Alfa) there is an annoying fault which no one seems to be able to solve.
The gear stick knob has a small amount of play, about 5cm of movement radially and a slight rock - just enough to loose all feeling of a smooth gear shift.
The dealers I have spoken to all have no idea how this is attached, it is not threaded as they usually are, the general opinion is that it is glued.
I am thinking that if I were to tweak out the badge in the top it might reveal a nut or some kind of fitting.
I am not about to start poking around with screwdriver or a knife in my new Brera - so, has anyone any ideas, or better still knowledge
of how this is assembled
