Thumbs Up NEW ALFA OWNER very PC!

Hello Alfa Owners, Great to find a site where there are like minded Alfa enthusiasts. I currently drive a 2001 GTV V6, in Vela Blue with Tan leather. Owned it for 4 years, never let me down and well looked after. I drove a 2.0 Tspark GTV for two years before that and again no problems. I am Alfa mad and cannot speak highly enough of them. Most of my family, including my parents own or have owned Alfas over the last 20 years. My Dad currently has a V6 GT and mum a 2.0 147.
Now for the downside. I am a police officer in the Met and yes, I do regularly drive fast but sadly in a vectra or a BMW. I will be happy to answer any traffic related matters should anyone have any.
Keep the good work up and hope to hear from some of you.

Cheers
Andrew aka Templar461

Re: NEW ALFA OWNER very PC!

Welcome to the forum Andrew. You'll find it a place where all your Alfa related questions or problems are answered in a swift, curteous and professional manner . Where there is no snobby one-upmanship that you get in other forums I could mention. A place where you can feel loved and part of a community and not singled out for ridicule, a place where everyone is respected..
Now then, have you ever fired a gun whilst jumping through the air?

Crazed Re: NEW ALFA OWNER very PC!

I have fired a gun but not whilst jumping through the air!! MPS do not allow such macho behaviour!. Now then, someone please answer this. I went to look at a 99 V Spider 2.0 TS yesterday, Black Red leather. The lady, young and clueless about Alfa wanted £6k, I laughed and said to her more like £4500 and that was before a test drive, normal driving and blipping and after finding that the 1st and 2nd gear grinded. My wife also drove it and found the same. I offered to have her follow me to Veloces of London, half hour away and get them to look at it. She initially stated yes and then a few hours later her chav boyfriend who drives a BMW 323 convertible called me and said he just wanted to leave it!! I always laugh at people who drive Alfas and have no real idea about value and cost of repairs. Mind you she spelt ALFA like *****, so no hope. Was my offer unreasonable and was it unreasonable to go to Veloces? By the way the head mechanic and service manager are very good mates at Veloces, but that is beside the point!! Its listed on Ebay if anyone wants a look. Let me know your views please. Thanks for the welcome.

Re: NEW ALFA OWNER very PC!

welcome to AO. I think £4500 is a god starting point. A lot depends on the service history. It may not have been well cared for.
Off the subject do u know Det. Ins. Mullins at Hendon?

Re: NEW ALFA OWNER very PC!

What's the mileage on it? I paid £4700 for my black GTV on a V plate with only 38k on the clock so I'm with you in thinking £6000 is a tad overpirced unless it's only done 10K that is! I'm guessing Spiders are worth a little more if mechanically sound that is! I'd forget about that ***** to be honest as doubt it's been looked after by the chavette.

Re: NEW ALFA OWNER very PC!

49K on the clock and surprisingly a cambelt and variator change at 38k. However there are two dings in both doors and the rubber on passenger side is perishing. just so everyone knows a gearbox supply and fit is £1100 if the synchro is gone and cannot be rebuilt. That is what I think is wrong and so I told them that they are fools to not have it inspected, peace of mind all round. You can't win with some!

Excellent, you said 'chav', loving your work.

Where are you based as i have two friends who are in the force in Leicester, blimey do they tell me some stories!! My mates are top blokes and so are most of there police friends i've met whilst out with them, as in all walks of life there are the odd rogue ones but most are bl00dy good people doing a bl00dy hard job, sorry it sounds like a love in but the things my mates tell me they have experienced, like the advert says 'i couldn't do it' (well unless i had a gun at all times!!!).

Looking at about £4000-£4500 if they're lucky then if the gearbox is b*ll*xed. If it doesn't feel right I'd give it a miss personally

Re: NEW ALFA OWNER very PC!

Artboy. I am a Metropolitan police officer based at Haringey, North London. I have the privilege of policing Tottenham! Haringey is very diverse and has regular shootings, stabbings etc terrorism related arrests such as the ricin plot a few years back and the arses that tried to blow up london lived just off my patch but used the mosques in my borough. so all in all my stories are pretty good too. thanks

Re: NEW ALFA OWNER very PC!

Hiya Andrew - you'd have a field day up here in your traffic car (all those wiggly bends & lots of bikers - yes, North Wales). I can't say much - my brother's been a traffic cop for years too - but sadly, he hasn't got much taste as he drives German junk (a safe, family A4...). He says it's the only real job you get paid for driving that fast in someone else's car - when you look at it like that...

A lad I went to school with has joined the Met too - don't spose you work with anyone Welsh do you??
