Hi All

After many years of driving Renault's whilst sat in another traffic jam on the way to work I saw a GT and decided that I wanted one.

Having decided to sell my grand scenic for what I could get for it, this was my budget to work with.

I thought it failed miserably on the on line auction site especially as it had been very well maintained and sporting 18" alloys, HID headlight conversion and the fact that I am a keen detailer I expected more, but undeterred my quest for my alfa started but execpting that I might be able to get a gt.

I was a highest bidder winning an 05 plate moonstone blue JTD with the velour interior - I was happy arranging to collect it over the weekend.

Three hour train journey and met at the station but was this the car I had won, missing door handle, rust on the roof, cigarette burns on all seats, I could live with this and repair and replace no problem, but the hole in the sill big enough to get a fist was enought and I walked away.

Great no car three hours from home a pocket of cash, now what?? Luckily newly listed as a classified ad was an 05 JTD, Grey, full leather full history, new clutch and flywheel, new cambelt all within the last three years. Another train journey north was meet but a totally different car owner two owners amazing service history from day one but 160K on the clock. After a long test drive we done a deal I parted with my cash and drove the 200 miles home the happiest boy in the land!!

The day after my birthday took the wife into town for lunch but leaving had trouble getting any gear, AA called to be told that possbily the thrust bearing had gone. It was towed to Mr Clutch - what have I done??

Two weeks passing it started with a leaking master cylinder this was replaced along with the slave cylinder, better but no where near drivable, new clutch fitted but the car would creep slightly so a dual mass flywheel was added to the increasing bill.

So here is where I am so far it drives ok it is very well cleaned and polished but spent more on the clutch than I paid for the car!

Thanks for reading
