1973 Spider cuts out when idling too long
I am new here. The real reason I have joined is because I am getting more than desperate with my current problem:
When the car has warmed up completely and then gets into heavy London traffic it tends to run very chocky when pulling away from a red light or even cuts out completely. I then have to leave the car for 20 minutes to cool down before it can run again without cutting out.
Long distance is never a problem - just standing still with the motor ideling for too long.
Things that have been checked and replaced:
- petrol filter and pump (both replaced)
- new spark plugs (NGQ)
- new distributor
- new dellortos
- head has been reconditioned recently
- new condenser
what is it that suffers from engine heat! Can it be the leads? About the only thing that has not been replaced yet.
Thank you for any tips
