First Alfa - Not quite a 4C!

Hi All,

New to the forum, but I have lusted after a Brera since they hit the roads nearly 10 years ago now, I have finally managed to get my hands on a "slightly sorry for itself" 2.2JTS version of this beautiful car that I am trying to put back just the way it was designed!

Thought I'd better pop on here and say hello and introduce myself before just helping myself to the collective oracle of knowledge!

Hopefully I will be able to help as well as be helped as my love affair carries on with this car!

Welcome Simon, nice Brera.

What has happened to the poor girl? Just a case of an assh@le of a previous owner, like a lot of Brera and 159s seem to have been/be suffering?

Thanks for the warm welcome all, I've had a busy few weeks and haven't managed to spend any time in front of the computer,

The last owner of my new toy seemed to be of the ilk, that if it's broken, hide the evidence and hope no one will notice, I am more in the camp of a deep inspection and try to fix it all before it becomes a nightmare!

I have so far managed, in the last couple of months to carry out the following jobs, most of these have only been possible to the various forums on AO, there is so much knowledge amassed in these pages it is a pleasure to be among the experts!

Fixed speaker grill in Passenger door
Fixed and cleaned the spare key (For some reason just didn't function, full strip down and clean out sorted)
Replaced the front wipers
Fixed the passenger side screen wash (Screw was missing from nozzle and it was cleaning the engine bay)
Replaced the gear selector top
Painted the headlight surrounds satin black
Tailgate trim needed new clips
Soldered and fixed the boot latch electronics allowing that to start working again
Reseated the tail light to eliminate water in the unit and a leak in the boot
Fitted the interior cladding properly to eliminate squeeks and rattles
Vinyled the console, door trim and dash trim with grey metal as original was pitted and damaged
Restocked the toolkit in the boot
Fixed boot interior light
Fixed the boot interior and fixed the spare wheel cover
Taken the relay panel to bit and cleaned/tightened all contacts after the Fuel pump relay died
Replaced the starter motor earth strap
Service and oil wash out
Fixed the Air filter bay
Cleaned, stripped and painted the battery bay (It had leaked at some point and made an aweful mess!)
Stripped doorcards and resealed the door lining
Fixed the window runner on the passenger door
Placed an EU travel kit in the boot
Fitted Fire extinguisher - Just in case ;-)
Replaced the passenger wing mirror glass with blue glass blond spot mirror
Fixed the horizontal adjust on the passenger mirror

Most of these issues were as you can imagine simple fixes as I have come across them, but the list is huge of the things that I am trying to get sorted, I do love the fact that this car does get so many looks just driving it down the road and when I have finished sorting thos one out I have decided that a slightly newer and lower mileage one will definitely be on the cards!

If anyone on here knows one of those experts that is able to give me a decent price for replacing the Panoramic roof I would be immensely grateful, the dodgy east London dealer managed to keep the crack across mine hidden from me! If I had know more about the car I may have found it but it's all a learning curve for me!
