Hey folks, I'm Dan.... I live in Gloucester at the moment, though soon moving to Devon... hoping to soon be a first time alfa owner
pretty much set on the 147 i think as I've got my bikes for speed these days so I want to just get a "normal" car, but I'm still a car person to the core, so the likes of the focus etc just aren't going to cut it despite probably being the sensible choice. that's the cross we have to bear I suppose
the nice spec of the 147 and the fact you barely see them makes them stand out. mate has a 156, so I don't want to copy, especially as he has it in black with the red leather and the teledials.... the best combo...
I'll be coming from an old mk1 mx5, handling is my main preference over speed... one of my favourite cars was our old response vehicle, a vw up... 1.0 with like 60hp. it took a thrashng like a man and was a joy to throw into bends giving it's all and still not being at silly o'clock on the speedo.
so my question is which would people recommend, the 1.6 120 or the 2.0?
I'm not made of money, so I figured the cheaper and simpler cambelt job on the 1.6 would make it a better car to own, but is there a lot in it aside from the £50 for the balancer shaft belt?
how much real world difference is there in performance anyway? also seems to be more nice condition 1.6s for good prices around, saves some effort at least even if I have previously been known to travel to the opposite ends of the country for even boring cars, I think those days are behind me
