Possible Alfa Virgin joining the fold!

Good evening folks, just found you via Google and thought I'd have a look.

A bit about myself, I'm currently serving with Her Majesty's finest in Paderborn, Germany. Have never owned an Alfa, but did drool over one as a spotty 18 yr old contemplating if I could afford the £3k insurance a year.

I currently drive a 2004 SAAB 93 and I will admit both myself and my wife love it! But my main joy in life is my 2006 ZX10R (motorbike)

So why, you may ask is he posting on the Alfa site? Well, as I'm posted in Germany I'm entitled to a tax free car and I also get free road tax and subsidised fuel at around 50p a litre!
So I have a dilema (albeit a nice one) I do like that Brera and as economy isent an issue at 50 pence a litre, I am looking at the 3.2 Q4.

My worry is the old stigma of reliability and residuals, I know a car purchase is never an investment but will I be crying in a years time! Bought an MG zr160 for my wife a few years back for 15K 8 months later it was worth 8! (not camparing an MG to an Alfa, by the way!)

Anyhoot, I've rambled on a bit, I will now go over to the Brera thread and annoy them. Thanks for your time in reading this post and hope to be drawing on your knowledge in the future.

Benn.

Only when you accept that Italians can't make anything properly will you truly be able to love your Alfa

Re: Possible Alfa Virgin joining the fold!

Go for it! Take a look at values of GT models to quell any worries about residuals-People are still asking (and getting) £14,000 for four year old cars! I would expect the Brera to be even better than this.I reckon Alfa has cracked the reliability issue too, although I always thought a big part of the problem was the attitude of the dealers.I bet the Brera turns more heads in a day than your saab would in its entire lifetime!Just don't expect a sports car-more a cruiser in the Gran Tourismo style.
