Engine Control System Failure
Just thought I'd introduce myself and let you know that after only 2 days of owning my new 147 I'm already having problems.
After considerable thought and lots of arguments with the wife I decided to buy my first alfa 147 last sunday. Drove it to Manchester from West Brom and it was a joy.
Unfortunately, driving to work yesterday the dreaded Engine Control System Failure message came on. The cars seems to drive ok to me, but I havn't enough experience of it to know if anything is majorly wrong. The message stays on even after re-starting the car.
My question is should I take it to my local dealership (Mangoletsi), who have mixed reviews on this site or to an independant, such as Heath Road Garage in Sandbach? I haven't bought an extended warranty from the dealership yet, are they worth the paper they're written and would it cover me for my current fault?
Any help would be appreciated, especially considering the earache I will most likely get from my wife if I don't sort this out as soon as I can.
