New member intro
Reason I joined this forum is that i have just bought an X Reg 156 2.0TS Selespeed, 127K miles; and could do with some help sorting out its little niggles.
So here goes
Niggle 1. Clonking/Clattering from front suspension. (I assumed the problem was worn anti-rollbar bushes, as I have had other vehicles with this problem. Usually a 1-2 hour cheap fix), seems not so on a 156 though it seems. Suggestions on how best tackle this would be most welcome.
Niggle 2. I need new up/down buttons for the steering wheel, can somebody suggest a good breaker where I can get these?
Question. Due to high mileage, and the fact the service record runs out at 108K, I reckon on changing the cam-belt pretty soon, (have seen/heard many horror stories as a result of snapped belts) Should I replace the water pump (temp guage reads a steady 100ish degrees) and variator as a matter of course. Also, how difficult is this task?
I would appreciate any help you guys can provide, as even though I am a fairly competent mechanic, and I dont like paying other people to fix my cars; the complexities of this particular beast at the moment mean I am slightly at a loss.
