Re: buying an 03 156 - looking for good advice
Make sure service history is there, belts and most importantly, TENSIONERS have been changed within the last 36K, does it sound 'diesely' when started, urm... squeaky suspension can be expensive to put right, does it look cared for? If the paintwork is pristine, interior is spotless, no parking dints etc, then it has likely been cared for mechanically too. These cars are designed to use oil, and if it has been owned for a short time, by Mr. Mondeo-driver, who hasn't checked the oil and caused it to run low, basically the engine could be knackered.
My advice to you if you are looking for a petrol Alfa is try and find one with low miles that has been cared for. It'll be well worth the extra you'll pay for it.
