Hey thought i would finally get around to posting an introduction on here. I did have an old account on here but was a few years ago and can't remember the details for it! So i thought i would start a fresh!
What spurred me onto finally get back on here was buying a GTV a couple of months ago.
This is my second Alfa, although my dad got me into liking them. i think he has had about 9 or 10 of them.
My first one I had for about five years and was a 145 1.8 TS which i loved. I did a few mods to it such as Koni Shocks, Stainless Exhaust, Strut Bar, Speedlines and a couple of other bits. It handled like a go kart and was quick for a 1.8. I had that up to the point it failed its MOT on a holey floor. I couldn't justify fixing it due to the amount of corrosion the bill would have been huge and would have stopped the rot completely.
At the same time as this i took over my dads Alfetta GTV6 which needs to be restored. this is currently, and slowly, being restored as the big end was going on it. it currently is sat in my garage with the engine out of it. I have just finished poly bushing it and the next step is to start reconditioning the engine which is sitting on a stand.
For the last year i have kept my eye out for an Alfa to drive around seeing as i missed my 145 so much. I finally settled on a 916 GTV V6 and started hunting for one i liked the look of. I ended up getting one a few months ago. It is black with a Stainless Quad Exhaust with Zender tips welded on, and Zender Filler cap. Red Leather interior and fully poly bushed.
So far ive just been ironing out the niggles. The only major issue with it was that the clutch was slipping but that got fixed a couple of weeks ago. I sent it to Autolusso to get a GTA clutch, Flywheel and Quiafe. I didn't realise how bad the clutch had got until i drove it with the new one. It's a total monster of a car with a new clutch! I can't get the grin off my face. I have also started the process of tidying her up. Painted the engine bay and gave it a quick polish and wax. Excuse the picture as it was before i got the car and i haven't managed to get any decent ones yet.
A have a couple of things i want to do to her in the future, i'm looking at a new intake system probably BMC CDA and possibly a new exhaust or smaller silencer as the exhaust has a massive long life silencer on it and is a little subdued. (quieter than my 145 but that was ridiculous) I am looking at wizard exhausts but maybe sometime next year.
Anyway it's nice to be on here and be driving an Alfa again! Hope to see a few of you at some meets at some point. I'll be at Spring Alfa day Duxford and Autoitalia Brooklands and hopefully a few more.
