Newbie intro

Should have posted this before as registered a while ago and have had Alfas for getting on for 11 years now, accumulating nearly 200K miles in the process.

Owned/driven a 2002 156 1.8 Veloce and then a 2005 1.9 GT JTD, the latter for nearly seven years and 125K plus miles on top of the 15K it had when purchased privately when 2 years old.

The GT still has it's original clutch - maybe not for much longer.....

The high standard of servicing from Alfa Workshop has made owning and running these vehicles a cost-effective and manageable process.

Not sure about the new hatchbacks, planning to get a FSH 60K plus miles 159 Lusso or Ti 2.0 JTDm. On paper the fuel consumption for the 159 2.0 JTDm is supposed to be better than 1.9 GT JTD, but not sure that this is actually the case.

Thanks for that; our mileage-challenged GT JTD spends a lot of it's time hacking up the M40/M6/M74 to Scotland - Perth, Aberdeen etc. (London to Barcelona in a day hasn't been done since a relative sold their apartment on the Med ). Luckily it seems that Grigio Lipari is semi-invisible to speed cameras (touch wood). Diesels are awesome for climbing inclines in the Lake District and the Borders and driving round the outside of Audi/BMW/Mercedes in all weather conditions.
