Greetings, fellow Alfisti! Sorry that I have not contributed for a long time! However, I am glad to report that my 166 twin-spark that is now six years old is performing well....probably the best that it ever has!
-Not that I havn't had to recently fork-out some 'hefty' sums to keep it in 'A1' order!.....the usual cam-belt change; rear suspension major parts!
I have also noticed that the front n/s wing colour is 'fading' badly,it is "alfa red"....my 'independent' Alfa Garage tells me that prior to me owning the car, it must have had a "bump!", & that whoever re-sprayed the wing used the 'wrong' paint! They used '1-pack' paint instead of the correct '2-pack!' So, when I can afford it, I have got to have it 're-done' properly, plus the front bumper & wing mirrors where the 'clear laquer' is 'flaking off!' (I have been quoted some £1,400 for this).
Despite all this, she is certainly the most pleasing car that I have ever owned in 30+ motoring years. I intend getting another ('face-lifted') 166, probably a V6, when I eventualy change the car.
Best wishes to you all,
GUY BERESFORD-LINNELL. (Alfa Romeo Owners Club 166 Registrar).
