156 Owner by chance, now enthusiast by choice!
Hello everyone, here's my Alfa story: After deciding to sell my beloved Range Rover to fund some home improvements (on the promise from the other half I can look into buying a cheap ferrari later in the year, I love italian cars!) I needed a car to get me around. I have a work van that I can use any time, indeed some of my collegues dont even own cars due to this perk, but I cant be without my own car. Ever since I was old enough to walk I've been into cars in some way or another. Anyway the other half's dad said he knew of just the thing, a 156 2.5 v6 that an acquantance was selling for a bargain price, and had been dealer serviced since new until the warranty was out, then serviced by his garage ever since regardless of cost. This also had the added benefit of him having all the service history on file, which I had printed off. So after a test drive a deal was struck and I was the owner of my new 'runaround'. Well I couldn't pick it up for a few days, and much as I was mildly excited about the Alfa I couldn't help feeling gutted about the impending departure of the Range Rover. But... when I picked up my 'new' Alfa it really started to grow on me, what had started as a chance buy had now become a rather appealing prospect. Momo seats in leather, wood steering wheel, climate control, this was a very nice car, which has all the comfort of the Range Rover but goes three times the distance on fuel! And to top it all off its got a 6 speed gearbox (even if I'd covered 62 miles before even realising!!!) and handles like a go cart, I'd really missed actually DRIVING a car. So I'm now a very proud owner of the Alfa, and its starting to look nice and shiny (it was covered in scratches and bird fouling!) and the interior has been treated to a weekends elbow grease too. Its so great I've been leaving the van at work and driving in every day just for the experience. If I do ever get the Ferrari I will be keeping the Alfa as I think it will be a hard act to follow. After all I will still need back seats! So once again hello everyone, and I look forward to meeting you at some of the gatherings
