Hello! (156 JTD Content!)

Hi all
Very new member here, but I just got back to my desk after putting a deposit down on a 2001 156 2.4JTD Sportwagon Veloce - very nice car, done 99,000miles, full AR history & in generally good condition.
The colour is a dark metallic green, almost a grey - Irish green?
Interior is black leather & spotless.
It has the 16in "teledials?", an electric sunroof, and sits mighty low - lower than any other 156 they had on the forecourt.

I currently drive a Passat V5, so I'lm looking forward to getting into some economical / sporting driving (not one or the other, as in the Passat)!!!

By the way, I pick up the 156 on Monday

Re: Hello! (156 JTD Content!)

Some pics I took whilst at the showroom yesterday...

Rear end is looking low here, but it has the Nivomat self-levelling suspension, which sits low when the car is stood for a bit:

Do I have to say this is a side view:

Was very sunny, so this photo ended up like this!:

Funny you should say that... I've already sussed out a remap. Not giving too much away at the moment, but the "before" power is awesome - I can only imagine with a remap that's it'll be unbelieveable!

Picked the car up today... car was badly prepped (they were prepping it when I put my deposit down, and it's like they did nothing else once they saw my money )

However, the car is low & hard, and will be excellent on the track (Nurburgring twice/year).

Stereo is rubbish, so will be going in the bin soon

Did a bit of research today re. the previous owner - managed to get hold of a phone number, so rang him tonight. Top guy, and was really pleased that "his" car had gone to someone who gave a s*** about it! He bought it new in June 2001, a special order & got the spec he wanted...

2.4 JTD Veloce Sportwagon (not a Lusso, as I thought it was)
Amazon Green Metallic
Curtain Airbags
Nivomat Suspension (not sure if it's still in there)

Lots of service history & repair bills - cambelt done at 70k miles, so good to go for a while.

I picked it up this morning, and had a "spirited" drive back to the office with it... WOW it moves!!! & it handles too. And stops. All the things my old Passat didn't do. But it has a few thumps & groans too - my Passat didn't do that!!!

This is a car with character - the Passat had very little of that - so I'm looking forward to hopefully a long & happy relationship with it

Paddy

Re: Hello! (156 JTD Content!)

Car is now back with the supplying indie... and I'm in a loaned 155 1.8TS!

Some issues with the car - lights on & a fuse kept blowing (one of the hidden hi-level fuses) - I suspect a dodgy tacho unit, but we shall see. Also engine temp stayed at 60C or less - dodgy thermostat expected. Drivers door seal was shreaded, so road & wind noise were terrible. RHS sill cover flapping off (Veloce). I spoke with him about the suspension. basically it's running on the bump stops at the moment, the rear is so hard I'd have to vet every B road before I would even dare drive on it. It's so hard... so he's swapping the suspension out of a SportPack 3 equipped car into it over the next couple of days.

So that's it. One day of ownership, and it's in the workshop already Still, the 155 is entertaining

Re: Hello! (156 JTD Content!)

New SP3 suspension, new door seal, and the lights problem fixed (was a 2p piece behind the ashtray that was shorting out the lighting there ... all sorted now.

What a transformation - awesome. I now LOVE this car!

And I saw a Momo emblem on the headrest tonight...

Happy out with my Veloce... :-)
