which cars do you drive and why?
1995 Alfa 155 V6, 1973 Triumph Stag, 2002 Toyota Celica VVTi. The Alfa (apart from the Triumphs I have owned) is the only car I have had which I actually went out and looked for and was determined to find one. Most other cars I have just stumbled upon or have been convenient buys. I have owned my 155 for nearly 7 years and it still gives me a grin factor the same as the first day I bought it. So I will never sell it and will do my best to keep it on the road. It took me 6 months to find a V6 with leather interior and had to be a blue one. Most of my cars are blue. The Celica is my wifeís. Very economical car. Nuff said.
Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo?
Yep Iíd say so.
What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo andÖ
Ö.do you think itís fundamental to own one to have the passion?
I have always been a car fanatic and that will never change. It was only inevitable I was going to end up with an Alfa. From now on I will only buy Alfas. A 166 3.0 would be nice but I just donít have the space for it and donít want to sell the 155. I donít think you have to own an Alfa to have the passion but you have to experience the drive yourself to see what the fuss is all about. Anyone who has driven my Alfa (even those who thought it was an old banger) always make a point of saying how good it feels to drive and how well it communicates with the driver.
Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one?
Indeed, need to make more time to join others and get more involved in meetings.
What do you like most about Alfas?
Styling, handling, engine noise, power, cockpit layout, and the general Italian feel about them
What do you like least about Alfas?
What would be your dream cars?
Alfa 155 fitted with 3.0 GTV engine, Supercharged, 4WD and 6 speed box. Any of the Brabus Mercs would do nicely and I would also like to fit a 4 litre Twin Turbo Rover V8 in my Stag along with ultimate Suspension/Brakes. As a classic car enthusiast, the list of old cars is endless but a couple that spring to mind are, Mercedes W108 series fitted with E55 AMG engine and running gear but looking as standard as possible, And an Alfa GTV6 Twin Turbo.
What car would you least like to drive?
A Diesel Vauxhall Carlton! With a squeaky fan belt, brown paint, rust aplenty and turd on the seats! Hopefully this car does not exist.
For you, whatís the most popular thread on AO?
What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)?
The 155 Tech area is of most interest for me.
Ideal drive would be going to a Alfa meeting along a twisty country lane, car all polished up, light bass from the boot and wifey in front seat.
Any humorous Alfa or car-related stories you wish to share with us?
Far to many to list. One incident when coil pack failed on the Alfa, I got out in a panic all effing and blinding and didnít see the van parked next to me which I banged my head on really hard. This resulted in dizziness and laying on the ground in the middle of the road holding my forehead and causing a traffic jam.
What interests do you have outside of Alfas?
Classic Cars as mentioned before, DIY, Socialising, having fun.
Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc)
Nothing worth mentioning.
Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?
Iím a really good impersonator and continue to amuse friends and work colleagues where ever I go.
What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people?
The welcoming feel to the whole site and the unity and friendliness of all involved. Ralf S (155 Owner) gets a proper thumbs up from me as he always tries his best to help and makes it his mission. Top Bloke.
If you had £50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it?
Modifying my cars and home improvements. It would be gone in 2 days!
