Hi, have bought an Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2011, jdtm-2 140bhp, for the first 5 months no problems, enjoyable motoring.
Since then have had issues, the latest of which involved the engine cutting out completely and the red oil light coming on.
The cambelt and water pump was changed by alfa, less than 6,000 mile ago.
There's just over 90000 miles on the clock and was serviced every 6 months.
The engine suddenly juddered, lost power and died, the local mechanic, thinks that it's lacking compression on one of the cylinders, though he hasn't started it or run a compression check.
The oil has dropped down to near the minimum level, doesn't appear as though the oil is milky/frothy.
The engine management light came on not long ago, linked to rear wiring loom fault.
The car has never gotten hot, above half way - average , what consider to be the norm.
The engine hasn't made any odd burning smells and the exhaust has never produced odd smoke, or seemed to have excessive plumes of smoke, and no discolouration/black exhaust pipes.
Was driving normally giving good fuel economy up until the point that the engine cut out.
Anyone have any ideas of cause, or what could be done to remedy the situation to start the car.
Also, any methods to resolve the rear wiring loom fault.
Any and all help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks .
