Here's my intro as requested by the forum. I'm off to Meridien in Portsmouth to pick up my GT tomorrow. 56/07, 9000 miles as its been used by them to source Alfas around the country. Higher mileage than I would have liked but the price sold it. JTD, Stromboli Grey, Black Leather with Parking Sensors. So barr the winter pack, which appears to be as rare as the proverbial rocking horse ****, my perfect spec.
My trade-in was a 03/03 Audi 1.9Tdi 130 Sport. So as a new Alfa owner what should I expect?
Technical questions (so far!!):
- I seem to remember seeing Alfa branded oil at the service desk. Is it any good? What else is recommended and if I should use non-Alfa oil do I invalidate my warranty?
- I think the radio fitted is the standard non MP3 CD playing version, but I'm not sure until I get a good look/play tomorrow. Does it make any difference when it comes to hard wiring in an iPod? The dealer suggested an FM transmitter as the only option but I know they're pointless in London etc. What's this Ipod tray? Is it an Alfa approved mod?
Not wishing to tempt fate but so far Meridien Milano in Portsmouth have been great. I can recommend Joe Hill who's dealt with my sale. Don't be put off by the fact he's young - he's very helpful.
Hylton Worcester. Started off well, with a 24 hour test drive, but then let themselves down spectacularly by not being bothered to get back to me with prices/a deal - even after I'd done the chasing. I truly hope that they read this and realise the error of their ways. Anyway their loss is Milano's gain - thousands of it. Congrats Hylton.
My closest dealer is Guest in Knowle near Solihull. A friend who's got a GT rates them highly - any other comments?
Enough for now! Thanks in advance for pointers.
