Well, everyone else seems to be doing it...

Your Forum name

Pete McK (ok, I lack imagination!)

Real name

Pete McKendrick

Age

37

Occupation

Shift process supervisor, or Shift Team Leader in trendyspeak/Dilbertspeak (which I don't do!)

Lives

In the Boro with my 8 yr old son Callum, who is a proper Petrolhead

Marital Status

Divorced

which cars do you drive and why?

1998 Alfa 156 2.0 TS and a 2003 Fiat Seicento Sporting.

The Alfa is for best, long journeys and for carrying around family/passengers. It was bought via a friend from a big dealership but still cost me a lot of cash and heartache to get it right. Whenever I drive it, it always puts a smile on my face - especially if I drive it like an Alfa!

The Seicento is in keeping with a long running addiction to Centos. I've owned 2 Cinquecentos which were amazing fun. First one I did a 1242cc engine and remap on, went remarkably well.
Second one had a 1242c engine and a low boost Van Aaken turbo conversion which would do sub-8 second 0-60 sprints. Massive fun but loud and only for when you were in the mood!
Seicento is smoother, quieter and more economical so it gets used as the daily driver. Few mods, handles and revs like an Alfa now

Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo?

Always loved Alfas and promised myself a 156 one day. It's the styling and presence that did it for me, then after getting one the driving experience proved every bit as good as the looks suggested.

What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo and…
….do you think it’s fundamental to own one to have the passion?

You can be a fan without owning. Alfa Romeo has more passion and style IMO than the market competition.

Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one?

Member of AROC, but not a particularly active one. My owner's club activity is mostly based around www.clubcento.co.uk for whom I am the technical advisor.

What do you like most about Alfas?

Style, flair and sheer driving experience. I drive along just knowing nobody else is having such a quality time in the car (apart from other Alfisti, naturally!)

What do you like least about Alfas?

erm... I'm keen with the spanners so nothing much phases me. There's little to be worried about that lesser manufacturer's cars dont suffer from to some extent too.

What are your dream cars?

I'm 37 and an old romantic, so:
Lamborghini Miura
E type Jag, series 1
Aston Martin DB5
Also:
Dodge Challenger, just for the sound and raw power!

What car would you least like to drive?

New Nissan Micra. How can anyone like the look of those? I'd need 'privacy glass' - all round. I'd even pay the fines as long as nobody could see me in one.

For you, what’s the most popular thread on AO?

I don't have the time to read it all, so don't really know.

What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)?

It'd have to be something like an RZ or New Spider across Italy.

Any humorous Alfa or car-related stories you wish to share with us?

er, once managed to get a berk a speeding ticket. He was driving like a 14 year old on Speed, all over the road and nearly hit me twice on one roundabout. Usual exchange of lights, horns and uni/bi digit communication. Decides to overtake me on a stretch of 50 limit dual carriageway. I knew where the speed camera was so kept him just behind me in the other lane at about 85 until just before said camera. I stood on the brakes and passed it at 45, he sailed straight through at about 90

I'm a Bad Man, what can I say?

What interests do you have outside of Alfas?

Centos, beer, good food, good days out/holidays with my 8 yr old.

Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc)

A friend and I were second in the world at the Parma Slot Car Team Race in the Metro centre in Gateshead. Before you guffaw, there were a lot of entrants from around the entire globe!

Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?

er, not really. I can sort of dislocate one shoulder and pop it back in, but it's not that pleasant.

What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people?

Thriving busy community, you can discuss anything and anything.

If you had £50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it?

New Brera with the V6, specced right up and a jolly nice holiday!

Pete.
