I'm Dino and a 1300 Guilia GT Junior was the third car I owned.
(the second was a non-descript 4 door British saloon that were also produced by a factory in Persia and are still common there today - was bought from an address in south London whose garden backed onto the 'Lanciana' workshop of the late Barry Waterhouse who founded 'Evolution engineering'. Destiny or Fate would take us back to that very same vicinity as my younger brother located Barry Waterhouse at 'Lanciana' as the most suitable engineer to maintain the ex-works Lancia Fulvia Zagato that our cousin had bought. Our cousin couldn't afford to maintain it, Barry bought the Zagato and raced it most successfully and my brother Harry started working for Barry part-time at the age of 13 !!!! We also replaced the clutch on the 1300 GT Junior at 'Lanciana' on a Saturday when Barry was at a race meeting with the Zagato and my jaw was unexpectedly used to support the gearbox (all lifts were occupied !). Anyway, my brother convinced me to sell the 1300 GT Junior and buy a 1300 Lancia Fulvia Zagato. In another twist, I bought a Lancia Fulvia Zagato from the very same garage that 7 years before had almost sold one to our father. But he opted for a non-descript British 4 door saloon.....
I regretted buying the Lancia Zagato at first. I complained to my brother that the Alfa 1300 GT Junior was faster.....Harry changed the timing chain, repaired the exhaust manifold and serviced the Zagato..........I could not believe the difference.....and I "finally saw the light".........the Lancia Fulvia Zagato was indeed faster and better than the Alfa in all departments ! It was a wonderful spring evening and I took the Zagato for an 8 hour drive !!!!!!!!!
Since then, I have owned many Lancia's and Alfa's including, more Alfa Guilia Bertones, Alfetta's, Suds, 33's, 164's, and 155's.
I drove an '83 Guilietta across the Alps (worst car I have ever driven) and took it straight into the workshops of Alfa Corse (Autodelta at the time) by pure chance (or was it Fate or Destiny ?!)...........
I raced an Alfasud Sprint that had been prepared under the strict supervision of Mr Bob Dove, and also raced a Lancia Fulvia Zagato and Fulvia HF (some of you might even remember me !).
I now run a 155 TS 1.8 16v and 33 1.5 IE
