Another Aussie....Alfa Romeo 159 problem!
Hello from Melbourne, Australia!!!!
Just joined this website as a first time Alfa Romeo owner!
I've recently fulfilled a lifetime ambition to own an Alfa Romeo - bought a black/tan 159 JTS 2.2 manual sedan, which I think is one of the most beautiful cars in the world!
I love this car but for one problem....
The car, from day of purchase, has been making a faint whining sound (like a blocked vacuum cleaner) when accelerating and the revs get around 2600 rpm - this happens only once the car has warmed up. If I take my foot off the accelerator, the sound stops. It has been back to the dealer 3 times (1 week after purchase!) and they are telling me that they found the same thing on about 3 or 4 other 2.2 JTS mauals they test drove. Therefore, they have informed me that it is a "characteristic of the car".....so, live with it! But, it's quite annoying and I'm tired of passengers asking me what's wrong with the car?
Basically, down here, I couldn't trust Alfa dealers as far as I can throw them, so wanted to know if anyone had struck the same problem, knew what is was, or had any advice?
I was told once that buying an Alfa was like leaving your wife for a supermodel - you are totally seduced but always wondering when she's going to walk out on you......I want this to be a long and lasting affair!
Hoping you can help!!!
