147 Cracked Sump
Decided to buy my first Alfa in January this year, a 147 1.6 TS. Five years old, low mileage and immaculate. A really great car, and now fully understand why people are so enthusiastic about Alfas. However, last week discovered a cracked sump. Took it into the local dealer, (who is really superb) and we inspected the underside, and indeed the exhaust bracket had caught on something and inturn cracked the sump. No doubt about it. So around €550 lighter, I have a new sump and new bracket and bolts waiting for the next Belgium pothole. I have had a scan through the forum and appears one or two suggest removing the protection bracket. I was wondering if there is a definitive solution to this from either the Forum or Alfa, or should I just modify it myself? It seems a really daft bit of engineering for a car that otherwise appears very well put together. Thanks for the assistance.
