code

hey guys,

Im a new member from Sydney Australia, the Alfa I own is a black spider gtv. Hope to learn lots and hopefully help others at as well, (when I can ).

I unfortunatley have a problem which brought me to this website -

the other day for no apparent reason my spider wouldnt start and I saw the word code on the dial. so I done the emergency start thing where u press the accelerator the number of times according to the 5 digit code ur given, and it started, but the word code did not go away.

So when I got home I started the car with my transponder key, the little red one, and not only did it start but the word code was not there anymore either. So it worked fine for a few days, now the word code is back, but when I took the key out and put it back in, code was gone, I didnt have to use the transponder key this time, it just went its self...

What does this sound like?, can I fix it myself?

Cheers from Australia !

Re: code

Hi Mate

Sounds like a number of possibilities, unfortunately.

Either your key is fritzed or the reader in the switch is suffering brain death. Likely the key though as the other key started the car. It could be as simple as the key or barrel needing cleaned. Worst case, the immobiliser is ill.

Good luck tracking it!
