Bought myself an Alfa GT 6 months ago, had an MG ZTT decked out in alcantara, 18" alloys, beautiful in & out then MG went pop and my problems started....lost my warranty, reversed into a post (me too quick, post too low) and smashed the back to find that there were NONE in the country ("don't worry mate they'll start making them again sometime"???) and all the niggles started.
Decided to cut my losses and buy the cheapest diesel Vectra I could find, hacked off with 300 miles to a large tank of petrol, and could see the money pit opening.
But... after 6 months with the Vectra I HATED it, so incredibly bland and downright dangerous (engaged cruise control in 2nd gear on a roundabout and the car tries to accelerate to 70mph because the control is on the indicators).
Wnet into my local Alfa dealer to trade in for a cheap 156, saw the GT, jaw dropped, had to have it.
Not so cheap, but wife didn't argue strongly enough, and it does it 2 kiddy seats in the back.
After 6 months, I still smile walking to the car park when I see the GT, and hope everyone else does too. It's the only car I've owned where people have stopped me and asked about it. Here's to many more years of the same.....
Only niggle with the Alfa (JTD) is the engine cooling fan SO loud, otherwise it's really quiet for a diesel.
