C'est Moi

Your Forum name

Real name
Mark …

I’m Still a bairn at 21!

I’m a maintenance technician for a car manufacturer… sorry, not Alfa!

South Shields, it’s a rather dull place just south of Newcastle, uk

Marital Status
I’m engaged 

which cars do you drive and why?
Right now just the Alfa 147, because it’s an absolute joy to drive! Got a calibra DTM Turbo running in excess of 400bhp at the wheels that has been off the road for about 18 months! Recently had Hyundai coupe 2.0 (171bhp) and Toyota Celica VVTLi (197bhp) not to mention track days in a DB9… go me

Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo?
I’m real passionate for all my cars!

What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo and…
….do you think it’s fundamental to own one to have the passion?

Ha you will laugh at me for this, I was in a crash in November 2005 in my celica, wrote the celica off and ROLLED a mitsi L200, I was out looking for a replacement car, top of the ‘to try’ list being an MG ZR160, Toyota Supra TT and something else, it cant have been very good as I have forgotten what it was! Next door to the MG garage I was testing a 160 out at (load of tosh) there was a I think Honda garage, they had a 147 lined up amongst various other cars, it just took a look and I had to know more, I had a good peek about before testing several, found mine about 40 miles away on a private sale, retired alfisti selling his pride and joy, had spent the entire day before I viewed it cleaning it inside and out, it looked stunning. Had to have it, phoned up an hour later and made an offer, had it accepted and collected it 2 days later! Ever since I have loved it, in fact it’s the first car I have ever had for 12+ months without getting bored!

As for needing to own one? Well, it helps!

Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one?
If you guys don’t see me as a member by now then I think im sadly deluding myself! Yes, of COURSE I would…

What do you like most about Alfas?
That absolutely has to be that roar they give as they hit 5000rpm and the engine goes mad… absolute porn

What do you like least about Alfas?
The damned bills!

What would be your dream cars?
Oof, tough one! The autodelta brera V6 is up there for sure. Would love a corvette, 911 GT3, Vanquish… for now im MORE than happy with the 147 tho!

What car would you least like to drive?
Oh this is easy, 1.1i saxo… sorry, there is NOTHING in this world less entertaining to drive

For you, what’s the most popular thread on AO?
What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)?

Most popular thread, images! Love lookin at others pride and joy. Best drive I have ever did was from Carlisle to Yorkshire to the wensleydale cheese farm… via the small roads… absolutely fantastic drive! Would love to hit the nurburg or however its spelt!

Any humorous Alfa or car-related stories you wish to share with us?
Not really, ive only been driving 4 years and tend to keep myself out of trouble… of course theres the entertainment factor of undertaking BMW 330 ci’s on the M/way and the look on their face when theres nothing they can do about it!

What interests do you have outside of Alfas?
My main interests are cars, racing and tuning. I also play electric guitar reasonably well and drink regularly heh! Don’t we all!

Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc)
About me? I’m boring though. Uhm, I was banned from religious studies at school, I ‘offended’ the course leader… during the spare gaps I had I learnt to play guitar, something that has now became religion to me!

Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?
No. other than passing out!

What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people?
Well the threads, episodes and people are all wan… ha just kidding, I think the best thing about it is that there are so many different people on here, all from very different backgrounds and cultures who can get together and chat and have a laugh as if they were brothers and sisters, that to me is the ideal situation for any club so well done to everyone!

If you had £50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it?
147 GTA, trip to London, autodelta, 3.7 super conversion, full bodywork kit, exhausts, brakes the lot… and with the change I would buy myself a very special guitar and big, big big amplifier!

Re: C'est Moi

Nice interview, you've driven some nice cars in your few short driving years. I'm same age, my best I think is a Merc SLK 3.2 V6 AMG-tuned. Was niiiice

How quick is your 2.1? And how come its a 2.1, not a 2.0?
