which cars do you drive and why?
Alfa 147 Lusso 2.0 – My Fiat Barchetta wasn’t practical enough as an only car.
Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo?
I am quite passionate for most Italian cars – including Alfa. Looking forward to the return of Lancia next year tho’
What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo and…
….do you think it’s fundamental to own one to have the passion?
Heritage I suspect – my mother is Italian and I always loved the Spiders (Fiat & Alfa) as a child. Don’t need to own one – I remember the first time I saw a 156 on a trip to London (before moving to the UK in 2004) and stopped dead in my tracks in the middle of the street and was almost creamed by a Corsa!
Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one?
Maybe, when the time is right. Lots of other things on the go at the moment.
What do you like most about Alfas?
Uniqueness. Style. Wow.
What do you like least about Alfas?
The gnawing at the back of my head that something will go wrong, likely intermittently and impossible to trace until it really goes very, very wrong!
What would be your dream cars?
8c Competizionne is nice but looking forward to the new Maserati Spider.
What car would you least like to drive?
While I accept they are good cars a....Mondeo, Astra, Focus – anything really mainstream. Cars designed to be for everyone rarely appeal to me.
For you, what’s the most popular thread on AO?
I actually have become quite addicted to this one – it is fascinating to see all the different people that are drawn to Alfas.
What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)?
From Newbury to Dover, across France, through the Alps into Northern Italy <Stop and visit Nonna> and continue all the way down Italy and eventually to Siracusa, Sicily. With my partner and a terrible selection of cheesy sing along 80’s music.
Any humorous Alfa or car-related stories you wish to share with us?
No Alfa one’s yet. Just on my third week as an Alfa owner but I will keep you posted.
On my first trip to Sicily a couple of years back, I had a rented diesel Punto. When I picked it up, they didn’t perform an inspection and it looked dusty and a bit worse for wear. I didn’t really look it over much as I was focused on getting on the road to meet friends. While driving along the coast I met up with a large Coca-Cola lorry driving towards me on a narrow road with a stone wall right along side the road. It was either my mirror or my life. I scraped the mirror along the wall but by a hair’s breath missed the lorry. I managed to put the mirror mostly back together and continue the trip but was dreading returning the car not knowing how this was going to pan out even with insurance. When I returned the car, I mentioned that I might have damaged the mirror. The very pleasant clerk pulled out the existing damage report and it was a page and a half long with “damage” to every exterior part of the car! Apparently Sicilians drink a lot of Coke.
What interests do you have outside of Alfas?
Architecture. The obligatory travel [Obviously driving trips are my favourite!]. Seventies American science fiction/action TV shows.
Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc)
I have met the Queen Mother.
Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?
I am apparently quite good at reading palms. [Oh by the way, I see expensive repairs in your future but they will be worth it!]
What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people?
The sheer irreverence and humour of so many of the threads. I may not agree with some of what is said but I rarely log off without a smile!
B]If you had £50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it?[/B]
1) Loaded new Alfa Spider, pay off small debt and the balance to the Dog’s Trust or
2) an immaculate S4 Spider, pay off sightly bigger debt and the balance to the Dog's Trust or
3) both Spider's and adopt another dog!
So hard to decide. Good thing I will likely not have to!
