Ulrich from Denmark here. I finally took a deep breath, and bought myself (and my family) an Alfa Romeo 156 2.0 TS from 2000. As so many others before me, the design of the 156 has always appealed to me, and the chance to buy a decent looking red 2.0TS at a bargain price, including 1½ years of MOT was enough to convince me.
The car is my first italian car, I've owned a string of Micra K11's, 4 Xantia's, and some more exotic stuff like Renault 17 TL, and modified japanese vans.
Yeah, we love it. Both my wife and I. The car runs pretty good. It's actually a big pleassure to drive, and it's small quirks are acceptable or fixable. So we hope to get a good few km's more out of it. It has however done 383.000 km's already, so its lifespan mighht be limited. We'll see how it all works out.
So far, I've had the pleasure
of replacing the crank sensor thingy. Took me only two hours to get to the single bolt holding it in place, and getting the new sensor mounted... But hey, now the car doesn't cut out spontaneously.
I'm sure I'll get a lot of great advice from this forum. Seems very active, and of course Alfa friendly. Not common on other general car forums.
