Job-wise I'm actually a chauffeur, driving a rather unexciting BMW 5'er, even though this is a mere 10 weeks old I still prefer to drive my beloved Alfa. Anyway, as I'm in the airport many times each day collecting or dropping people off I've already had a wander round the airport market and bought a few goodies for my wife, that's all so far.
Today after trying to get the ICS code into the system (again) I'm planning on heading to our local Erding market, also not so exciting but can easily walk there and do a bit of local Christmas shopping too.
We're due to be in town (Munich) next weekend when a good friend I haven't seen for over 16 years is visiting, this will be a great excuse for some of the better Munich markets and victuals
Meanwhile, on the subject of BMW vs Alfa .... in the last 12 months I've driven 6 different BMW's including 740, three 520's and two 530 GT's (I've done just over 21,000km in the current 520 and it's not quite 11 weeks old). The 740 and GT models are good to drive, but still don't have the heart and passion of my Alfa.
Just what is it about Alfas?
I adored my GTV V6 3.0 but had to swap it for more room with the 166 (also V6 3.0) which I bought at 4y old (the car, not me) and it now has 260,000km, the engine is still going strong, but I guess in a typically Alfa way a few other 'bits' around it are showing their age ... ICS, a couple of switches .... etc.
My current plan is to hopefully keep my 166 running for another 2 years and then look to replace it. There's no problem with the TÜV, it passed in April this year so I have that until April 2016. Also, I don't have to drive it daily to get to work any more as the company BMW also lives with me, so the Alfa is now more of a weekend car. Is it coincidental that this ICS problem occurred just after I stopped driving it every day?
Anyway, good to be here with other afficionados.
