Re: Thinking of buying a 164 V6
What are intake runners? I can change these to get cloverleaf-like power from the 3.0 24v?"
They are the chromed silver curved tubes on top of the engine that make it look so good.
The standard 24valve 3 litre 164 gives 210BHP. If you swap the larger intake runners from the cloverleaf you get an instant extra 20bhp, as that was the only difference between the engines..however you do need all the clips and adaptors as well, and its not quite as easy a job as it first looks.
Squadra tuning in Holland do a complete kit so you are not hunting for bits . Look up their website
However I would advise you that you can probably never use that extra 20 BHP on a day to day basis. If you have ever tried to drive a 24Valve Super at or near its power limits I assure you you will have your hands full, the extra 20BHP makes a difference, but not that much By the time you feel the power you are driving at totally illegal speeds anyway. At 4000rpm plus even the 210BHP makes it go like a scalded cat
