Hello to you all
My name is Pete. I have owned two ARs, an Alfasud and a 156 1.8, both red. The Alfasud rusted away one misty evening many moons ago, and the 156 died this year owing to expensive repairs needed to the suspension all round: I would have spent £1500 and the car would only have been worth £300 afterwards, so for once with an Alfa, my head ruled my heart! I had eight years of enjoyable ownership out of it, however, and it was completely reliable: the factory battery died suddenly at 80k miles, but that was the only time it refused to start.
Having been without a car of my own for 6 months, I am itching to have another Alfa. We have a family car, a BMW 5 series E39 2.5 petrol auto touring, which has some sterling qualities including the capacity to accelerate hard from 80mph, but it looks like a lump of lard and it has lots of little electric niggles which really irritate. I'm 6'3" tall, (and my sons are 6'4" and 6'7"), so the Giulietta and Mito are a touch cramped, so while I wait for the Giulia (and wait and wait and wait...), I think a Brera is what I really need. Not want: need. My sons can make their own way...
