OK here goes:
Your Forum name
With partner, Helen
Which cars do you drive and why?
Alfa 147 1.6 Lusso in Azzurro Gabbiano
Are you a real passionate for Alfa Romeo?
Well I guess I am getting there, I’d certainly like to have another.
What or how started your passion for Alfa Romeo
I guess the design and heritage. I had a Stilo before and the 147 seemed like the natural progression.
Would you ever consider joining an Alfa Club or are you already a member of one?
Not really, I’m an anti-social sod
What do you like most about Alfas?
The heritage, the engine note, the style, the fact that even the humble 147 can turn heads.
What do you like least about Alfas?
Er the problems caused by manufacturing and design faults such as 3 year cambelt intervals.
What would be your dream cars?
Crickey where do I start? I like unusual cars, something that is stylish but bit out of the ordinary, but not necessarily too expensive..
Smart Brabus Roadster
1970’s Porsche 911 (Brown paintwork with Fuchs wheels)
Citroen 2CV (I did have one but it rusted away)
Any V6 Alfa
An old Cal-look Beetle
Oh go on then, a Lamborghini Gallardo SE in Aranco Borealis
What car would you least like to drive?
Again, where do I start?
Any Vauxhall, especially something like an Agila or Zafira.
The new Honda Civic
A Rover or MG-badged Rover
For you, what’s the most popular thread on AO?
Today I am mostly listening to…
What would be your ideal drive in an Alfa (destination, passenger, driving music, etc)?
Maybe driving round the Highlands of Scotland with Helen in the passenger seat and Tool on the jukebox.
If Helen wan't available then Salma Hayek would do
Any humorous Alfa or car-related stories you wish to share with us?
I once had a 20 year-old 120,000 mile Renault 4 that I drove 1300 miles round the Highlands and Islands with no breakdown cover, on the way home she boiled over about three miles from home.
I've got cars in my blood as my Dad used to rally, while he was doing this my mum would go marshalling on Welsh forest stages when she was pregnant with me.
What interests do you have outside of Alfas?
Road cycling, I do a bit of running too.
Music, especially Metal and Indie
Tell us something nobody knows about you. (E.g. special skill, ever been on TV, etc)
Er I was on the telly once, (no, not Crimewatch!).
It was during the 1997 General Election, Panorama (a BBC current affairs TV program) were, bizarrely, interviewing Mick Hucknall (Simply Red) in the street in Manchester, I rode through the camera shot with my mate, I was on a bright green BMX wearing an Orange Fluorescent Jacket and my pal was riding a ladies shopping bike and wearing a yellow fluorescent jacket…when we saw it back on the telly we looked a right couple of goons on our noddy bikes with daft coats!
Do you have a party trick? If so what is it?
Not really but I can ride a pushbike pretty quickly when required, and I once clocked 58 mph downhill.
I can put away a fair bit of Red Wine too if someone else is buying but that’s nothing to be proud of…
What do you like most about the Alfaowner forum? Any favourite threads, episodes or people?
It’s friendly and very well run and presented. I loved the debacle a while back with AlfaDublin; a bit of controversy spices things up a bit doesn’t it?!
If you had £50,000 you had to spend in 72 hours, how would you choose to spend it?
An Alfa GT V6 for Helen and a Maserati 3200GT for me I think, and spend the rest on a nice holiday to Italy.
