3 weeks ago I bought a 147 2.0 Lusso.I have never owned an Alfa before and would like to share my thoughts on the car.
Firstly,I bought it with a worn front wheel bearing which I got replaced by my local independant garage.Sounds a hell of a lot better now !
I then replaced the (in my opinion) rubbish Connect headunit with a nice new Pioneer dab head unit. The stock bose speakers are the best I have heard in any car I have had previously.
Heavy oil consumption but changed to Castrol Edge 10w60 and is significantly reduced.
Things I love about the car:
Exclusivity....hardly ever see any other Alfa despite driving up and down motorways every day.
Drives beautifully and the leather seats and lovely dashboard and dials are a nice place to be.
Performance very good for a 2 litre and handles very well through corners.
Air con and climate control are brilliant.
The look of the car...far better looking than any other hatchback in my opinion.
Overall,it is just a really lovely car, everything works and it is just a joy.
So much so that I use it to go to work in rather than the company car I have which is just a 1.2 Corsa.Rubbish car,in no way fun to drive. It is like the automotive equivalent of a fridge freezer.Does the job but thats it.
The Alfa just has some kind of indefineable appeal that you either get or don't.
I actually drive to work slowly just so I can spend more time in the car....is that sad?
The Alfa just makes you feel special and that is a rare quality in a car.
I have had probably 20 cars over the years and this is up there with my two other favourites
a Nissan 200SX and and Honda NSX.
That is high praise.Cant understand why Alfa don't sell a shed more cars than they do but I guess most people can't look beyond the obvious choices and that is their loss.
The mark of a good car is when you go out for a drive just for the hell of it and the Alfa is one of those cars.
Thanks for reading my ramblings!!
Live near Telford btw so if you see a silver 147 around town, give me a wave.
