Hi, I am new here
Bought a 164 QV a week ago after looking for one in Hong Kong for over a year. There are probably not more than 15 left in Hong Kong.
This is my first Alfa. Other cars driven before include Honda Accord ('79), Toyota Carina ('81), Toyota Celica ('81), Datsun 280ZX ('80), Volvo 240 ('93), Toyota MR2 (AW11 - '81), M.Benz (C230K - '96), Honda Odyssey 3.5L - 2000), Audi 1.8T (2005), M.Benz 300CE - '90). Get to appreciate older cars now for their look and character.
Saw it last year first time but thought that shouldn't keep two cars then. An Alfa lover got it but had too many cars to restore and look after and the QV sat idle in the garage. Enrolled into the local Alfa club as guest member and spotted the message that the new owner is releasing it to buddies so I was first one in line. First owner kept it for 12 years. Second owner just a few months. Both are respectable Alfa fans. The QV was well kept.
The car is black, 24V manual, 1994, done 98,000 km. The car got a new coat of paint some two years ago. Still shinny and looking good. Nothing needing attention yet (some hissing sound from the aircon fan motor - but aircon is still freezing cold - idling speed sometimes stay at 1500 rpm after a fast run but otherwise stay at 800 rpm - talked to an Alfa specialist and said this was normal "repalcing the idling regulator would be a waste of money") but still unsure when the timing belt was last replaced. First owner cannot remember. Owner kept most receipts - one showed belt purchase in 2001. Not sure if there was a more recent replacement, probably not, or else the owner would recall.
The Alfa family in Hong Kong is an interesting bunch, most of them are quite active in 'morning drives' (gatherings), and chat on the web. Most of them order their own parts (mostly from UK) and take them to their garages. A new dealer came into play some weeks ago and there is great expectations that it will do better than the previous one.
Looking forward to more sharing with folks here.
